100 ICONIC MOMENTS IN FASHION by Megan Hess

It can flatter and enthral, captivate and mystify, polarise and provoke. The Dress – few items in fashion are as capable of capturing a specific moment in time, the spirit of a generation, or the indefinable energy of a fashion icon.

In THE DRESS: 100 ICONIC MOMENTS IN FASHION, internationally acclaimed fashion illustrator Megan Hess explores the memorable dresses that have shaped the course of couture in recent decades.

From the simple elegance of Audrey Hepburn’s little black dress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s,
to the promise of the romantic fairytale in Princess Di’s never-ending wedding dress, to the absurdity of Lady Gaga’s meat dress, Megan Hess celebrates the dress’s finest moments and takes the reader on a decadent romp through couture history…from the haute, to the weird, to the hot.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Megan Hess was destined to draw. Her initial career as a graphic designer led to her employment as an art director at some of the world’s leading design agencies. In 2008, Megan illustrated Candace Bushnell’s New York Times bestseller Sex and the City. She has since illustrated portraits for Vanity Fair and Time magazines, created iconic works of art for Cartier of Paris, and decorated the windows of Bergdorf Goodman in New York. Megan also channels this signature style into her bespoke range of silk scarves and limited edition prints, which are sold around the globe.

Her illustrious clients include Chanel, Dior, Tiffany & Co., Yves Saint Laurent, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Cartier, Ladurée and the Ritz Hotel in Paris. When she’s not working in her studio, Megan is usually hiding in a coffee shop, secretly sketching those around her and looking for that perfectly dressed person – perhaps, in the perfect dress.
